Why We Service Castle Hill

We service Castle Hill to provide quality recycled roof tiles for a suburb known for its mix of established homes and ongoing renovations. Many properties in the area use tile profiles that are now discontinued, making replacements hard to find through standard suppliers. Our tile recycling service helps homeowners and tradies in Castle Hill access the right tiles for repairs and upgrades at a lower cost. It’s a practical solution that supports both the local building industry and more sustainable construction practices.
More on Castle Hill
Castle Hill lies about 34 km north‑west of Sydney’s CBD within the Hills District, on land traditionally belonging to the Bidjigal clan of the Darug Nation—descendants of this heritage are honoured today through places like Bidjigal Reserve. European settlement began in 1791, when Governor Phillip explored the area from Parramatta and followed Aboriginal trails along what are now Windsor and Old Northern Roads. In 1801 Governor King established the Third Government Farm here, formally naming it “Castle Hill” in March 1802. This farm relied on convict labour—many of whom were Irish political prisoners—and in 1803 they were accommodated in substantial two-storey stone barracks. The following year, in 1804, these convicts launched the Castle Hill Rebellion (sometimes called the Second Battle of Vinegar Hill), an organised uprising of around 230 men. Although swiftly suppressed, the rebellion has become a significant chapter in Australia’s convict-era history. After 1810 the government farm buildings were repurposed—as an asylum from 1811, and later as a church and school from the late 1820s. Orcharding and market gardening took over through the 19th and early 20th centuries, supported by the fertile land. During this time, early structures featured timber slabs, corrugated‑iron roofing and bark—typical of rural outbuildings and workers’ huts. From around the 1960s, suburban expansion reached Castle Hill, with brick homes and terracotta or concrete roof tiles becoming the standard for new housing . Roof tiles were chosen for their resilience in Sydney’s climate and their visual harmony with surrounding bushland. Heritage-listed buildings like the original school (built 1878–1880) and St Paul’s Anglican Church feature enduring tiled roofs that remain significant in today's conservation efforts . In present-day Castle Hill, older homes built between the 1960s and 1990s often need reroofing or tile matching to align with existing streetscapes. Even modern developments around the Metro station are blending contemporary design with traditional roofing styles. Rooftile Recyclers supports the Castle Hill community by supplying high-quality second‑hand terracotta and concrete roof tiles. Our recycled tiles are particularly suited to heritage restoration—ensuring the visual consistency of heritage buildings and older homes—and to suburban extensions, repairs, and reroofing projects. By reusing durable roofing materials, we help reduce waste, lower costs, and preserve the rich architectural character of Castle Hill’s built environment—from convict-era barracks and orcharding-era cottages to mid-century homes and present-day developments.

"Very prompt and a nice bloke"

Knocking down our house, we called these guys to see if we could offload our tiles to them. After collecting all the tiles that were of suitable condition, we received the funds into our account the very same day. Very prompt and a nice bloke, I really enjoyed speaking to him and learning little insights into the tile industry. Wish this company the best for the future.

"Excellent service & great staff"

Excellent service and great staff. Needed some spare tiles as I was getting solar panels installed. Staff were very friendly and helped put the tiles in the boot of the car. Best if you can bring in a tile that you need and they will match it up perfectly.

"Amazed what he has in stock"

You will be amazed at what he has in stock and a mountain of knowledge. I might only buy them to smash them but they are great value for money.
