Second Hand Roof Tiles Canberra
Second Hand Roof Tiles in Canberra
Canberra roofs are hard to match. A great deal of the city went up between the 1960s and the 1980s under concrete tile, and the older inner suburbs sit under terracotta from makers who stopped producing decades ago. When one tile breaks, the profile you need is often no longer made by anyone.
That is exactly what we hold. Roof Tile Recyclers keeps between 150,000 and 200,000 second hand and obsolete roof tiles at our Prospect yard, across hundreds of discontinued Monier, Bristile and Wunderlich profiles, and we arrange freight to Canberra, the ACT and the Southern Tablelands.
With over 35 years in the roofing industry, we are a certified company supplying homeowners, builders and roofers. Send a photo of your tile with a tape measure in shot, or call (02) 9756 3350, and we will identify the profile and check stock before you commit to anything.

What Is Likely on a Canberra Roof
Canberra’s suburban expansion through the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s across Woden, Belconnen and Tuggeranong went up largely under concrete tile, and a great many of those profiles have since been discontinued. The inner suburbs are a different proposition again, with terracotta from manufacturers that no longer exist in any form.
A tile from the same brand is not necessarily a tile that fits. Cover width, interlock geometry and head lap tolerances differ between manufacturers and between eras, so a close-looking tile can still sit proud or let water past the side lap. We hold hundreds of discontinued Monier, Bristile and Wunderlich profiles in both concrete and terracotta.
Freight to Canberra
Canberra sits roughly 290 kilometres south-west of our Prospect yard, well outside our own delivery run. Orders to Canberra, the ACT and the Southern Tablelands travel on a pallet through our logistics partners, so freight is quoted per job rather than charged at a flat rate.
Three things drive the cost. Tell us all three and we will quote it correctly the first time instead of on the day.
- Pallet count and weight. Roof tiles are heavy, so quantity moves the price further than distance does.
- Unloading access at the address. A forklift on site, a hard standing area, or only a residential kerb are three different prices to a carrier.
- Depot collection or delivery to site. Collecting from a Canberra depot yourself is usually cheaper on smaller orders.
Small repair quantities are worth asking about separately, because a handful of tiles does not always justify a pallet down the Hume.
Ordering From Canberra
You cannot walk the racks from Canberra, so we work off photographs. Send the face of the tile, the underside and the side interlock, each with a tape measure in shot, and we will identify the profile and check stock against it. The underside matters more than the face, because it carries the maker’s ribbing and lug pattern while a weathered face tells us very little.
Before anything ships we photograph the actual tiles allocated to your order so the weathering and colour are not a surprise when the pallet arrives, and we quote the tiles and the freight separately for you to approve. Our guide to identifying a roof tile from a photo and a tape measure covers exactly what to capture.
Delivering to Canberra
Do you deliver roof tiles to Canberra?
Yes. Canberra is about 290 kilometres south-west of Prospect, outside our own delivery run, so orders go on a pallet through our logistics partners. Freight is quoted per job and you approve it before anything is loaded.
What does freight to Canberra cost?
It depends on pallet count, weight and unloading access at the address. Tell us the quantity and whether the site has a forklift, a hard standing area, or only a residential kerb, and we will quote it properly rather than estimating on the day.
Can I collect from a depot in Canberra?
Usually yes, and on smaller orders it is generally the cheaper option. Ask when you enquire and we will price both ways so you can compare.
Do you install roof tiles in Canberra?
No. We supply the tiles rather than fit them, so you or your roofer handle installation. We are happy to talk your roofer through anything they need to know about the profile.
